MORE SKI EQUIPMENT! [Oct. 7th, 2009|10:15 pm]
[Tags|, , , , , ]
[mood | tired]

And I don't even think I'm going to snowboard that much this year, but I've already gotten a new helmet, new goggles and now... I have a new ski jacket. WOOOOOOO! And then I'm probably gonna find out that my board is rusted or something and won't be able to go... ha ha..

...

ha.. *knocks on wood*

...

*runs to check on snowboard*

Anyway, it's been a little crazy ever since September started. Tomorrow is Thursday (my day off) and I'm really thankful for it. I'm also thankful for this coming Thanksgiving weekend just b/c I don't have painting, tai chi and indoor soccer. ha ha.. I mean, I love doing everything but it's kinda nice not having to worry about getting things done beforehand, making sure I have everything packed in my backpack if I'm not going home or making sure I get home on time to make it to wherever I'm going. Plus packing lunch. Having groceries to make lunch. .... yeah. It's just been a lot.

Watercolour painting is actually going slowly but nicely. No longer the EPIC FAIL that I mentioned in my last journal entry. I still feel like a bit of a dunce.. just b/c I didn't even know how to add water to the paint. But at least I feel like I'm progressing. The last couple of things I've painted out weren't too bad. Hated it (sorta) while painting, but liking it after walking away from it and letting the darn thing dry. ha ha...

The rest of the stuff I'm getting used to and I can almost do all of the 24 forms of tai chi! Weeee! Soccer skills are crap and hip hop is progressing slow enough that I'm actually follow along. I also think I've just gotten used to adding moves to the end of a routine that we would be working on... or at least no losing my composure when I screw up and everyone around me is doing the dancing perfectly. lol.

Tai Chi - 24 forms (in case you're curious) )

In other news, my cousin has made me one of her bridesmaid. 0_o I just found out this week and though, my mom vaguely mentioned it a year ago... I didn't hear anything of it ... until well, this week. ha ha... We're gonna see if they can make a dress and I guess alter it in the two weeks I'm there before the wedding. I'm already dying b/c basically I'll be the blimp in the same dress as a whole bunch of stick thin (HK average size, dammit!) bridesmaids. I'm pretty sure my bridesmaid dress will have enough material to clothe all of them combined but I'll just have to bear with it. My cousin is actually a really nice person so I'm pretty excited for her. I hope she doesn't mind there's a bridesmaid hiding in the corner b/c she has absolutely no idea what she's supposed to do or say. I'm so uncultured. ha ha... I'll have to go bug the others to find out what happens at a traditional Chinese wedding.

Blog vomit [Jun. 3rd, 2009|09:28 am]

[mood | bouncy]

There's a good chance that this is going to be one loooong entry. I'm not sure yet, because even though a lot has happened, I do have a tendency to give up towards the end. We shall see how it goes. I shall use the all powerful heading to separate topics and a little easier to read.

So YAY! Non-random entry. Tho, those are fun as well.

Injured again...

So a couple of weeks ago, our team (Watch your Shins!) did a double header. It was cold, it was windy, dark clouds were looming everywhere... it was great. So on my first shift, less than 10 minutes into the game, I go after this girl with the ball. I turn around to go after her, see Johnson in my way, but it's too late... I run into him. Now, this isn't the first time, I've crashed into a teammate. Not focusing on the time Tom had a muscle cramp and decided the best way to stay up was to grab my shoulder and slam me into the ground - Johnson and I crashed into each other last season. I looked to the side just to see Johnson running towards me. He ran into me, I flew sideways and rolled on the gymnasium floor today. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago, I run into Johnson, I fly backwards, land funny, roll my ankle and limp off the field.

Johnson: 2, Ali: 0

(Damn you Johnson... *shakes fist*)

Anyway, the clincher was I hobbled off the field, sat out for a few minutes and then promptly played that soccer game and the next one. Needless to say, by the end of the day, I was limping badly. So badly that I could barely get up and down the stairs, I thought I was going to die (seriously) trying to get in the tub to shower and I took the day off work the following day. ha ha..

My walking is back to normal but it took about a week or so to get there. There was some serious quasimodo action going on there for awhile and SWELLING. Hoooly cow! My left foot was always bigger than my right foot but duuuude, I couldn't see any of the bones on my feet for days. Just one bloated bag of skin. 0_o

Had the (world's oldest!) doctor check it out and got an x-ray. There are no fractures. So yeah, I've been lazy lately just b/c I had to stop playing soccer and I quit dance for this semester. *sigh* On the bright side, I'll be back in action next week, in a slightly more limited capacity. I actually played a little yesterday b/c one of the girls looked a little injured and other than some soreness in my ankle this morning, it wasn't too bad. I'll just have to wrap it up before a game for a little while.

The Great Turtle Race

http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/greatturtlerace-map/

Yeah, baaby! Seabiscuit came in 2nd!! The turtle race wasn't done in real time as we found out later. So you could have viewed the results if you changed the date on your computer a.k.a. psychic ability. XD It was a lot of fun, tho. I was borderline obsessive (or maybe _just_ obsessive) with how much fun I was having with this.

Calgary Expo

So, I haven't been to a comic expo or an anime festival for the longest time. The last anime festival..........was years ago. During university. Probably towards the beginning. I went to the first comic book expo in 2006, but I haven't had a chance to go ever since. When I went, I had nothing to sign autographs with and well, I just wanted to see two people: Humberto Ramos (I have his comics! I should have brought them...) and Kirby Morrow (sexiest... voice... LOL!). Humberto Ramos drew a little spiderman on my name tag and Kirby signed it as well. Saw some ppl dressed up as ghostbusters, took pictures w/ some stormtroopers, Udon Crew was there. It was good times and I bought my mom a little yoda figurine.

This year I decided to go because recently I started watching these people called Imaginism Studios on deviantArt. I loooove their art. So what happens at the Calgary Comic Expo?? It takes every fibre of my being not to go into fangirl. I swear, I should have been dubbed 'creepy girl who won't stop smiling'. I bought an ocean-themed artbook from there. I love it. I also bought the expo artbook this year and got a whole bunch of autographs. There were some really great artists. I got starstruck, really. I saw Jo Chen. She was really nice and her stuff was amaaazing. I think I practically idolize her. ha ha..

Oh and I saw Adama (zee daddy one) there. XD That was pretty damn cool. His hair is all grown out. ha ha..

Anyway, here's a link dump of some of the people I saw and their amazing art.

Imaginism Studio - GO HERE! CLICK! CLICK! CLICK! - http://www.imaginismstudios.com/
Jo Chen - She's famous for a lot of stuff. I remember her doing covers for the Buffy comics - http://jo-chen.com/main-data/jo.html
Sean "Cheeks" Galloway - http://gotcheeks.blogspot.com/
The Anthology Project - amaaazing art - http://www.theanthologyproject.com/
Joy Ang - what got me looking at the anthology - http://www.joyang.ca/

There's actually more, but I'll have to look for them. :D I'm definitely going next year. :D

Animal Crossing

Still playing. Still borderline possessive. I don't think I'll ever stop playing this game. O_O

Oh, and also got to play Punch Out! on the wii. Lots of fun. Gained one muscle on my right arm. ha ha... only the one.

OK... so I sorta died there towards the end. ha ha.. All done. Probably a mess and I'll have to edit but I shall do that later.

Random Thoughts: Puppies & Soccer [Mar. 9th, 2009|11:37 pm]
[Tags|, , ]
[mood | confused]

I've been going ga-ga over German Shepherd puppies. ha ha... Where I thought the only dog I'd ever go for would be the Welsh Corgi, I've found another place in my heart for the German Shepherd. I think it all started with my parents and I going for some Japanese food when there was a German Shepherd puppy waiting outside the Starbucks next door. It was absolutely adorable. I totally fell in love. It was sitting there, looking all attentive and what got me was that every time we looked at it, one ear would alternately go up. ha ha... Just another moment where you just want to grab the dog and run as fast as you can. LOL. If you hear about any dognapping sprees in Calgary...... it wa-n't me.. XD

So many squee moments. ha ha... But alas, I suppose I'll never get to have my own German Shepherd. Stupid allergies. As much as I'd loved to be doped up ALLL the time. ha ha...

Ready for another round of soccer tomorrow. Will try not to suck.. we'll see how it goes. XD

On a more serious note, I've been thinking and I kinda miss how it used to be back in outdoor. It just seemed so much more lighthearted. Or maybe I'm just being negative... or just getting less tolerant of certain things... I wonder sometimes... Ah well...

Well, wow, another (crazy) random entry from yours truly. This one was particularly random. LOL. I swear I'm manic sometimes. One thing pops into my head and I just keep writing. blah.. XD

[mood | sore]

oh, so sooooooore... outdoor soccer was so much fun! It rained throughout the two games... and we were all soaked through... but it was so much fun! It helps when your teammates are such nice people.

*pause*

But I'm soooooore... Need to throw myself into a hot spring or something. ha ha...

Went out for wings at Limericks afterwards. Got home around midnight. Showered. Went to bed. Slept in. Didn't get to work until ALMOST NOON(!!)! WTF... I feel so bad. I took the half day out of my vacation.

Anyway...

One more day of activity before FREE day!! Huzzah!!

weekend is SO close... [Oct. 19th, 2007|03:35 pm]
[Tags|, , , , , , ]

OK. So now that the Banff post is out of the way - I can talk about other stuff. ...though, there hasn't been much to tell since coming back from Banff. I did manage to play soccer with some friends on Saturday, so that was loads of fun. I suck - I have no stamina, but I can kick the balls.... whether or not I tend to pass to the opposing team (damn you, Audrey!) is an entirely different story. :d

Will be off to badminton today (ready to receive super hard right bicep) and possibly in for some swimming on Saturday. Auj won't be there cause she hurt her left foot so we'll JUST see how much swimming I actually get done. boo hoo.. Ali needs company... *cough*

Anyway, my dad also rented Super Paper Mario for the Wii last week, so that took up a few nights for me. Initially, dad rented it for himself - but I kept getting angry at how he was playing the game. ... as in not being able to play. I was literally pulling my hair out watching him play. So, I promptly took that game over. ha ha... Apparently, Auj found me playing highly amusing. Eventually, we had to return the game to Blockbusters. It must have been a week late, I swear. I might actually buy the game, though. I miss it terribly. *lol*

BTW...

Singstar is HILARIOUS!! It's such a fun game. I honestly didn't know how many 80s songs I knew until I played the 80's version. heh heh... Played it twice so far. First time was more fun for me since I wasn't having a nice little allergic reaction to the dog like I did for the second time. :D Nothing like singing without being able to breathe properly.

Currently at work right now. They were testing the fire alarms in the building and I'll give you one guess who's room the fire alarm is actually situated. Come on... guess. Anyway, it was really nice having the alarm go off about 2 feet away from me. It's all good I suppose - I am obviously not getting a lot of work today. I am getting so easily distracted.

BTW, work is stupid... as usual. *shrugs* Two words: GONG SHOW.

OK... will try to get some more work done...
